Venerdi' 17 marzo, alle ore 15:00, nell'aula Seminari di Matematica, il Prof. Alexander Grigorenko (University of Manchester, UK National Graphene Institute) terrà un seminario dal titolo:
"Optics in 2D"
The isolation of various two-dimensional (2D) materials, and the possibility to combine them in vertical stacks, has created a new paradigm in materials science: heterostructures based on 2D crystals. We discuss an application of such structures to several areas of science and technology: i) single molecule detection based on hybrid plasmonic nanostructures elements, ii) efficient photovoltaics based on semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs)/graphene stacks, iii) hybrid graphene plasmon waveguide modulators and iv) nonlinear light mixing using graphene plasmons. We discuss various challenges and developments that 2D heterostructures could bring to optoelectronics, optical communications active plasmonics and other areas of technology.
