Lunedì 12 maggio alle ore 16 in aula Benvenuti, il prof. Martin Weigt, Laboratoire de Biologie Computationelle et Quantitative - Sorbonne Université, terrà il seminario dal titolo:
Generative modeling of proteins : from data to models and back
Abstract: Thanks to modern genome sequencing techniques, biology is undergoing a transformation into a data-rich science. In this context, generative probabilistic models of protein and RNA sequences are emerging as powerful tools to extract useful biological information from massive sequence data. They have been key for the Nobel-prize winning success of AlphaFold in predicting three-dimensional protein folds from sequences. In my presentation I will review our efforts to use protein sequence models beyond structure prediction, to predict the effects of mutations in proteins, to model protein evolution, and to design artificial functional proteins.
Il seminario sarà tenuto in lingua inglese.
